Performance Management for Supervisors

Description

Performance management is a core supervisory responsibility that extends far beyond the annual evaluation.

This session equips supervisors with practical tools to manage performance consistently, fairly, and effectively throughout the year. Participants will learn how to apply the full performance management cycle—from setting clear expectations and monitoring progress to addressing concerns early and conducting structured evaluation conversations. The session explores how job descriptions, competencies, and performance standards align with coaching, documentation, and development planning. Supervisors will practice using proven conversation frameworks, such as Start–Stop–Continue, to deliver clear feedback while maintaining respect and focus on growth. Emphasis is placed on documenting performance accurately, engaging employees in meaningful dialogue, and collaboratively setting goals that align individual contributions with organizational mission. Supervisors will be better prepared to lead confident, productive performance conversations and support sustained employee performance and development.
