Situational Leadership for Supervisors

Description

Some employees may require a great deal of direction, while others respond best with encouragement and recognition.

Those in leadership positions become more effective when they vary their leadership style according to the needs of their employees and the particulars of a given situation. Effective supervisors learn how to diagnose the situation and how to select the appropriate style to match the skills and commitment of their employees.

Objectives:

  • Define two leadership styles: directive and supportive.
  • Describe four leadership styles and how they differ from one another.
  • Build an understanding of a leader’s role in each of the four styles.
  • Build skills in diagnosing competence and commitment of people to tasks.
